Description
NEUTRON-X is an easy-to-use, research-grade 3He neutron spectrometer designed to be resistant to common sources of electromagnetic interference, such as arcs, variable frequency drives, electric motors, plasma discharges, and ground loop noise.
A thermal neutron calibration spectrum is provided with each system.
The system is safe for air transportation and does not contain batteries.

Installation
- Connect the detector to the MCA-LITE using the included USB-C cable. Use a longer cable if necessary.
- Connect the MCA-LITE to a PC via the included USB cable.
- Install PicoSDK on your PC.
- Run PulseCounter Pro software. The software comes with a default project that includes an optimized preset and a thermal-neutron calibration spectrum for the system. Clone the existing project by clicking the CLONE button and start a new measurement.
Requirements
- 64-bit Windows PC
- USB 2.0 port
- Screen resolution: 1920×1080 or higher
- For the software UI to display correctly, set the Windows font scaling at 100%.
Moderator
- To maximize counts when detecting fast neutrons, use a moderator.
- Use GEANT4 or MCNP to calculate the optimal moderator thickness based on the properties of your neutron source and your environment.
