Alpha-Pro is a turn-key, research-grade alpha spectrometer suitable for a wide variety of applications, including dosimetry, environmental monitoring, and scientific research.

For high-resolution alpha spectroscopy, place the SSB detector in a vacuum chamber (alpha particles lose energy rapidly in air).

For counting, place the SSB detector point-blank with the source.

What’s Included

Installation

  1. Connect the MCA-PRO to a PC via the included USB cable.
  2. Connect the Canberra 2003BT preamp to the MCA-PRO using the included DB9 cable.
  3. Connect the SSB detector to the preamp.
  4. Connect the preamp to the CH1 and SHV connectors on the MCA-PRO using the included BNC and SHV cables. Use longer cables if necessary.
  5. Install PicoSDK on your PC.
  6. Run PulseCounter Pro software. The software comes with a default project containing an optimized preset and a 210Po calibration spectrum for the system. Clone the existing project by clicking the CLONE button and start a new measurement.

  • For the software UI to display correctly, set the Windows font scaling at 100%.
